In 2008, the School of Foreign Languages was established, developing from an English teaching and research department. Presently, we have two undergraduate majors: English and Japanese, of which English is a prestigious major in Jiangxi Province, as well as one postgraduate program in English education which was initiated in 2017. So far, English and the postgraduate program have been designated as priority subjects within Jiangxi Agricultural University.
Our faculty comprises 88 members, including 5 professors and 19 associate professors. Notably, over 40% of our teachers worked or have pursued further studies abroad.
We boast of comprehensive teaching and training facilities for simultaneous interpreting, international trade, international business negotiation, and business English practice. Furthermore, we have a library, language labs, microteaching classrooms, and self-learning classrooms to facilitate our students’ learning.
Our teaching and research endeavors have yielded remarkable achievements: more than 30 provincial and national teaching awards, over 30 national and provincial research projects, as well as papers published in national and international journals. Our teaching team has garnered acclaim for the online course series, “An Insight into Chinese Agricultural Civilization” and “An Insight into Chinese Agricultural Civilization--Chinese Idioms,” which were approved by the Ministry of Education in 2021 and in 2023 respectively. Our efforts have been recognized by the provincial government, as we were the sole higher education institution in Jiangxi Province to be awarded for Women’s Day in 2016.
We endeavor to improve our students’ competence, encouraging them to participate in social activities and various contests. Our graduates predominantly find employment in sectors such as trade, education, foreign affairs, tourism, news media, while others pursue further studies domestically or internationally. 90% of our master’s graduates serve as college or high school teachers.
